die stiftung creative kirche in witten ist eine selbstständige und gemeinnützige stiftung, die zur evangelischen kirche von westfalen gehört. ihr auftrag ist es, die gute nachricht von der liebe gottes durch musik weiterzugeben – offen, modern und ökumenisch. sie entstand 1993 aus einem gospelprojekt, organisiert seit über 25 jahren bundesweit gottesdienste, workshops und festivals und hat sich als kirchlicher veranstalter von musikalischen großprojekten über deutschlands grenzen hinaus einen namen gemacht. für die tournee des chormusicals „martin luther king – ein traum verändert die welt“ in 2019/2020 haben sich bereits 15.000 sängerinnen und sänger angemeldet, und der letzte gospelkirchentag 2018 in karlsruhe – das größte gospelfestival europas – verzeichnete über 4.500 teilnehmende und rund 50.000 besucher. die projekte zeichnen sich dadurch aus, dass jeder mitmachen kann. „wir machen das aus liebe zur guten nachricht von der liebe gottes und aus liebe zur musik“, so die vorstände martin bartelworth und ralf rathmann: „die musik übersetzt diese gute nachricht in unsere gegenwart.“ die beiden diakone und gründer der creativen kirche werden heute durch ein 30-köpfiges hauptamtliches team und viele ehrenamtliche unterstützt. die creative kirche unterhält einen eigenen musikverlag, in dem auch zahlreiche kindermusicals erscheinen, die in gemeinden, kindergärten oder schulen für eigene aufführungen verwendet werden. die stiftung creative kirche ist mitbegründer der ev. pop-akademie witten.
